Chrysler Canada reports november sales

Chrysler Canada on Dec. 1 reported sales of 11,460 for the month of November with continued high demand leading to strong sales on several models.

The Dodge Journey strengthened its position as Canada’s No. 1 selling crossover with sales of 1,648 units, an increase of 24 percent from November 2008. The Journey was recently selected as one of the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) “Top Safety Picks” for 2010.

Sales of the Dodge Grand Caravan grew 12 percent compared with last year, with 3,411 vehicles sold. This level cemented the Grand Caravan’s position among the top five best-selling nameplates in Canada.

The Ram 1500 pickup increased sales 22 percent in November to 1,552 units, compared with 1,271 last year. Starting now, the Ram 1500 will be joined in Canadian dealerships by a full lineup of Ram Heavy Duty 2500 and 3500 trucks, including Regular Cab, Crew Cab and Mega Cab® versions in six trim levels.

Results for the Chrysler Sebring sedan also were up 22 percent, with 376 units sold compared with 309 vehicles in November 2008.

“This month was really about our corporate news,” Reid Bigland, President and CEO of Chrysler Canada, said. “On Nov. 4, we announced a $200 million (U.S.) third-quarter operating profit and a $1.7 billion (U.S.) improvement in our cash position. Continued profitability is a key area of focus going forward.”
