President, Rosolino Lo Duca, along with Artistic Director, Dino Valle, and Board Member and Sculptor, Giuliano Zuccato, researched many portraits of Bellini before choosing an iconic image that will be instantly recognized as Vincenzo Bellini. The sculpture is to be placed in the Grand Lobby of the Detroit Opera House to honor this great composer and as a symbol of the Bellini Opera Theatre. Not only has the sculptor created a beautiful work of art, but has generously agreed to donate it to Michigan Opera Theatre. The unveiling of the sculpture will take place on the stage of the Detroit Opera House on Friday, May 20, 2011, prior to Michigan Opera Theatre’s 7:30pm production of Rigoletto.
